Lviv police detained a member of a group of drug addicts with a batch of methadone worth more than a million hryvnias
A resident of Zaporizhia is a member of a criminal group whose members “specialized” in the manufacture, storage and sale of drugs and psychotropic drugs on a large scale on the territory of Ukraine. The man has already been informed of the suspicion.
Operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations in Lviv Oblast with law enforcement colleagues exposed illegal activities of drug addicts. In particular, it was established that among them are residents of Zaporizhia and Poltava regions. They sold drugs to “clients” from all over Ukraine mainly through postal items. To cover up, the phone numbers and personal data of the senders were constantly changed.
Yesterday, June 23, the police detained a 36-year-old member of the group under the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The man was moving a kilogram of ready-to-market methadone. Its cost reaches UAH 1.3 million.
In addition, during the search, a revolver and cartridges for it were seized from the detainee, 4 mobile terminals, bank cards, SIM cards, a tablet and “rough” records.
Currently, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing, it is carried out by the investigators of the Lviv Regional Police Department under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office of the region.
The defendant was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 307 (illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen. A full circle of participants of a criminal group is established in order to further bring them to justice.
