Cooperation between the police and the community and the authorities is not standing still and is increasingly covering Mariupol. Since the beginning of 2021, residents of 17 high-rise buildings have joined the police program “Safe House” in the city.
Since the start of the project - 2018, 114 safe houses have already appeared in Mariupol, on which more than 400 CCTV cameras are installed. This year, in less than half a year, “Safe House” signs were installed on 17 buildings.
“We installed CCTV cameras 3 years ago on two high-rise buildings in our yard. Crimes have become much less and we feel safe. Today we received plates from law enforcement officers so that everyone would know that the house is under police surveillance,” says the head of the OSMD Natalia Ivanovna.
The woman gave an example that last year in one of the entrances their neighbor was attacked by a robber. The police arrived in 3 minutes, watched the video from the surveillance cameras and in a matter of minutes discovered the crime. The video showed the signs of the attacker and therefore, law enforcement quickly found him.
