Cadets and students of the Ministry of Internal Affairs joined the conference dedicated to NATO Day

On April 15, the information event “NATO Day” was held in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine together with the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Ukraine.

Among the speakers at this event were representatives of the NATO Headquarters, the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the NATO Mission in Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. In total, about 600 cadets and trainees from the National Guard of Ukraine, the State Border Service of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service and the higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which provide training of police officers, took part in this online event.

This event is aimed at informing the cadets of the third to fifth years of training on the implementation of the state policy of Euro-Atlantic integration, raising awareness about the activities and development of the North Atlantic Alliance and understanding the directions of Ukraine-NATO cooperation in the security sphere.

“NATO Day” was opened by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Tetiana Kovalchuk and Director of the NATO Information and Documentation Center Vinet Klayne. Also, the cadets were congratulated by the Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Public Diplomacy Carmen Romero, who underlines the importance of the event and is very significant in the development of the cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system with the NATO side.

“Today, the policy of Euro-Atlantic integration is the policy of expressing the will of the Ukrainian people. Indeed, integration into NATO is not a matter of one day. However, we share a common paradigm of aspirations and expectations from each other, and a consistent and sustainable course of cooperation with NATO, which is a priority for us. This is a two-way movement that we are going through together,” Tatiana Kovalchuk emphasized.

The online conference also addressed the key principles and priorities of NATO activities, the NATO-2030 strategy, the current state and prospects of Euro-Atlantic integration in the security sphere, practical support for Ukraine on the example of the NATO Professional Development Program and the Building of Integrity.

The active participants of the event were cadets of faculties training specialists for units of the National Police, applicants for the educational degree “master” of the Faculty No. 1 of Lviv DuvS, cadets of DDUVS, NUZZU.


The future border guards also took the information with interest, after the event they discussed the principles of the Euro-Atlantic Alliance and asked teachers questions about the prospects for the development of the organization, as well as the role of Ukraine in this progress.
