The criminal group included five people. At the moment, the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings has been completed. The defendants face up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.

Recall that in July last year, a report was received on the special line “102” that unknown persons kidnapped a man near the metro station “Dorogozhychi”, located in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital. Police interviewed a witness to the incident, reviewed recordings from CCTV cameras and launched a search for those involved in the crime.

Law enforcement officers found that two unknown men entered the premises of the building in which the victim was located, and forcibly took him out into the street. Operatives, together with employees of the special unit KORD, immediately launched a special operation to release the hostage. Subsequently, law enforcement officers detained five people who kidnapped, held and mocked the businessman.

Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the investigators informed the members of the criminal group about the suspicion of committing criminal offenses provided for in Part 3 of Art. 146 (Unlawful Imprisonment or Abduction of a Person), Part 4 of Art. 189 (Requisition), part 3 of Art. 28 (Committing a criminal offense by a group of persons, a group of persons by prior conspiracy, organized group or criminal organization) and part 2 of Art. 127 (Torture) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, the pre-trial investigation has been completed and the materials of the criminal proceedings along with the indictment were sent by law enforcement officers to the Shevchenko District Court. The defendants face up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.
