Today, January 13, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that in 2021, 56% more citizens reported domestic violence to the police than in 2020. At the same time, 10% more administrative protocols were drawn up, 19% more urgent injunctions were issued against offenders, and 11% increased the number of registered offenders.

Ekaterina Pavlichenko noted a steady trend that has formed in Ukrainian society in recent years: domestic violence ceases to be silenced.

“Traditionally, analyzing statistics, we observe an increase in the number of appeals of citizens and the strengthening of the police response,” the deputy minister noted.

Such figures show that citizens, regardless of gender, age, social status, etc., recognize domestic violence as a problem and are not afraid to declare it.

At the same time, as Ekaterina Pavlichenko emphasized, the increase in the level of awareness and awareness of citizens contributes to the strengthening of the mechanisms of prevention and response to violence.
