The Cabinet of Ministers has authorized the use of two cannabis-based drugs for medical purposes
We are talking about a synthetic cannabinoid that mimics the action of THC, the drug “Nabilon” and a standardized cannabis extract with the same content of THC and cannabidiol “Nabiximols”.
The relevant resolution “On amendments to the list of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors” was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on April 7, 2021.
Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine at the National Police of Ukraine took part in the development of the draft resolution together with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
During the development of this initiative, in order to provide patients with access to medicinal products containing cannabis derivatives, it was provided for the possibility of using the substances “Nabilon” and “Nabiximols” both in the composition of imported medicines and for their use in the production of relevant domestic medicines. At the same time, safeguards are also provided to minimize the risks of the use of these substances by drug offenders in the illicit traffic of drugs.
In accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, the circulation of psychotropic substances “Dronabinol”, “Nabilon” (a synthetic cannabinoid that mimics the action of a particularly dangerous substance tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and “Nabiximols” (a standardized cannabis extract with the same content of TVA) GC and cannabidiol) is allowed only in the form of drugs or in the form of substances intended for the production, manufacture of such drugs.
