The fighter for the independence of Ukraine, the first Minister of Internal Affairs of independent Ukraine, the author of more than 60 scientific works Oleksandr Myciuk was born in the village of Oleksandrivka in the Donetsk region. The memory of the patriotic law enforcement officer was honored today, December 8, in his native village by the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and police of Donetsk region.

The celebrations were attended by First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevhenii Yenin, Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk Oblast Ruslan Osipenko, Deputy Chairman of Donetsk Regional State Administration Vadim Filashkin, Head of NGO “Ukrainian Initiative” Yuriy Kosenko.

A memorial plaque in memory of the Minister of the UNR Oleksandr Myciuk, who held this position in 1918-1919, is installed on the building of the police department No. 1 of the Kramatorsk district police department (Oleksandrivka village).

The First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized the great contribution of a native of Donetsk region to the development of Ukrainian statehood, which contradicts the narratives of the Russian Federation.

“The example of Oleksandr Myciuk is evidence that the Ukrainian soul manifests itself in the Donetsk region, in Transcarpathia, in Odessa, and in the territory of the northern regions of our country. From historical writings we see that even 100 years ago he was clearly aware of the whole essence of the Moscow Bolshevik regime. We need to know, honor our heroes and follow an example, because the main battle for independence is still ahead,” Yevgeny Yenin noted.

The head of the NGO “Ukrainian Initiative” noted that the roots of modern state institutions were laid during the first liberation competitions in 1917-1921, and among the statesmen of that time there are a whole pleiad of residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

“Oleksandr Myciuk was the son of a simple peasant from Donetsk region, and his life path is devoted to one goal — the struggle for the independence of Ukraine. He is one of the founding fathers of the modern Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, a practicing minister who implemented reforms in difficult conditions, as well as a scientist. He was one of the first to realize the criminal, aggressive essence of the concept of “Russian peace” and predicted what would happen next,” Oleksandr Kosenko reported.

Those present honored their fellow citizen by laying flowers.
