Igor Klymenko urged residents of border areas from the RB to report to the police if strangers appear
Yesterday's appearance of “tourists” in Chernihiv region indicates that they are already trying to sense the level of security of our borders. And although the movements of migrants have not yet been recorded, but we must be prepared for provocations.
This was stated by the head of the National Police Igor Klymenko, who inspected today the section of the state border in Zhytomyr region.
“In this area, more than 250 km of the state border with the Republic of Belarus. Strengthened joint patrols of police and border guards work here to monitor the situation around the clock. Local residents can also help law enforcement. If strangers appear in settlements, it is better to immediately notify the police. We will check who they are and for what purpose they arrived,” the head of the National Police said.
He expressed hope that among the locals there will not be those who want to betray the interests of the population and the state by organizing illegal crossings across the border. He recalled personal criminal liability in this case: “We clearly monitor such things. No money is worth the safety of citizens.”
Today, November 19, the head of the National Police spent in the city. Ovruchi coordinated a meeting with the heads of law enforcement agencies of the region on the situation near the state border of Ukraine with Belarus. Prevention of possible complications and appropriate response to events are priority tasks voiced during the meeting.
“Our common goal is to ensure people's safety and identify the most effective actions to prevent illegal migration. Coordinated interaction between law enforcement agencies and full communication with local residents will help us in this,” said Igor Klymenko.
Separately, the head of the National Police emphasized the need to respect the rights and freedoms of citizens during these events.
The head of the NPU checked the readiness to serve as part of the joint patrols of police and border guards directly at the Vystupovichi checkpoint.
Also, Igor Klymenko announced the holding of a practical stage of relevant exercises of all units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system next week in Zhytomyr region with the involvement of local public organizations.
Recall, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has warned the attempt of foreign citizens from the Middle East to enter Ukraine from the Republic of Belarus.
For a more than fictitious purpose of the trip, today they tried to cross the border at the checkpoint in the Chernihiv region. 15 foreigners were traveling by regular bus from Minsk. During border control measures, citizens told the DPSU servicemen heading to our state for the purpose of tourism. However, during an additional check, the border guards found out that foreigners, including four teenagers, arrived in the capital of Belarus a few weeks ago and immediately headed to the Grodno region. In their words, after inspecting the “sights” in the west of the neighboring republic, travelers decided welcome to Ukraine as well.
