Public order in Uman is guarded by a consolidated squad of police

More than 600 police personnel and more than 200 National Guard troops arrived in Uman to ensure public order and security during the Rosh Hashanah celebration.

Today there was a gathering of law enforcement officers who will serve during the mass stay of the Hasidim in Uman. The head of the Main Department of the National Police in Cherkasy region Mikhail Kuratchenko conducted a targeted briefing, outlined the tasks of the police for the next 10 days. Head of Hlavku stressed that among the main tasks of law enforcement officers is to ensure public order in the places of compact residence and stay of Hasidic pilgrims and to prevent any offenses.

“From September 1 to 6, 23,500 thousand Hasidim will arrive in the territory of Uman. This year, according to preliminary estimates, about 50 thousand pilgrims from all over the world are expected to arrive. Also from September 3, a delegation of 11 policemen from Israel will arrive, who will help us in ensuring public security and order,” said Mikhail Kuratchenko.

The consolidated detachment consists of 635 police officers from Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Kyiv and Cherkasy regions. The unit consists of employees of migration police, special purpose police battalion, patrol police officers, tactical and operational response of the UPP in Cherkasy region, dog handlers with service dogs, explosives, operative workers, dialogue police, rescuers, medics and military personnel members of the National Guard of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers will be on duty around the clock, there will be both stationary posts and walking routes.

During the docking, Deputy Chief, Head of the Department of Preventive Activities of the GUNP in Cherkasy Region Serhiy Kovalenko proved to law enforcement officers the main tasks to ensure the protection of public order.
