At the same time, the parties stressed the importance of cooperation to prevent offences, in particular those committed on the basis of intolerance. This was discussed during the meeting of the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Klymenko and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine Mikhail Brodsky.

The head of the National Police Igor Klymenko noted that according to the police, about 50,000 Hasidim are expected to arrive in Uman this year to celebrate Rosh Hashanah:

“And now our main task is to make guests feel safe. We have full cooperation with the Israeli police, who are serving with us in Uman. We will respond very quickly and in a timely manner to all events that occur. The national police and the police of the Cherkasy region are now on an enhanced version of service”.

Ambassador Michael Brodsky noted the well-established work between the police of Ukraine and Israel based on the experience of previous years.

“Israeli police come here to help, but we understand that you bear all responsibility. And thanks to your work and professionalism, we are able to come to Rosh Hashanah celebrations every year.”

The head of the police of Ukraine also added that at the same time, the presence of law enforcement officers at airports has been intensified:

“We are working together with the Border and Migration Service to ensure that people can come in and celebrate the holiday safely.”
