The crew of the Marine Guard boat “Balaklava” rescued fishermen who were dragged into the open sea on a de-energized vessel
Tonight, border guards responded promptly to a distress signal about a depowered fishing vessel in the Black Sea.
The technical observation post “Chernomorsk” of the Odessa border patrol reacted to the message, which appeared on the radio at 02:40 h. Open channels of international maritime security received information from the crew of a civilian ship heading towards Georgia about a parachute, which sends a distress signal by signaling missiles.
The boat of the Marine Guard of the State Border Guard Service “Balaklava” immediately advanced to the specified area. Nearly 25 nautical miles south of the Tendriv Spit, border patrol sailors found a de-powered fishing vessel that had lost control. The captain explained that the fishermen arranged to go fishing from Ochakov in accordance with the established procedure, but after some time there was a technical malfunction and the de-energized vessel lost control. The wind began to carry them to the open sea. The crew gave a distress signal.
Currently, the boat of the Maritime Guard of the State Border Service “Balaklava” is towing the de-energized vessel to the port of Ochakiv.
By the way, the crew of the “Balaklava” did not notice any Russian military or border ships, which according to some information sources came to the aid of Ukrainian fishermen.
