Donetsk region: As a result of shelling, personnel of the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service were evacuated from the place of demining in Gnutove
At the end of March, the pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine began the next phase of demining within the framework of the cooperation of the SNS with the representative office of “The HALO Trust” in Ukraine on the site Gnutove 1 with a total area of 12 hectares. The main purpose of the work is to clear the territory of explosive objects in order to reduce the mine hazard to a level at which people can live safely.
Work continues almost every day. However, the situation is complicated by the fact that the site on which the pyrotechnic departments work is located near the demarcation line. Every day, pyrotechnics risk their own lives, because along with the danger of mines and shells removed by specialists, there is also the risk of being under enemy fire.
On April 26, from about 8:00 to 08:40 in the morning, as a result of the violation of the regime of silence, there were shelling of the garden society near the village. Gnutove, near Mariupol. The site of the shelling is located in the immediate vicinity of the field on which the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service are working as part of the Joint Project between the SNS and the Representation of the international humanitarian organization “The HALO Trust” in Ukraine”. At the time of the shelling, there were 23 representatives of the State Emergency Service and 5 units of equipment. Rescuers were forced to stop work immediately and leave the dangerous area.
Currently, work is suspended, personnel of the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service have been evacuated from the site.
