Today, November 22, there was a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the US Embassy in Ukraine. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Mary Akopian discussed with the Director of the Department of Technical Assistance to Law Enforcement Agencies of Ukraine Sarah Langenkamp the continuation of cooperation on the “Community Police Officer” project and the strategy of the Ministry's response to possible migration crises in Ukraine.

“Already today, we need to actively expand communication with the international community in order to prevent a possible migration crisis on the Ukrainian borders. At the same time, we do not stop at implementing our joint initiatives. For example, “Community Police Officer” is the project that the Ministry of Internal Affairs implements with the assistance of the US Embassy in Ukraine,” said Mary Akopian.

It should be noted that the United States constantly supports law enforcement reforms in Ukraine. During this year alone, as part of the international assistance of the US Embassy, Ukrainian police officers received about a hundred vehicles with special equipment. Over the past year, more than 700 law enforcement officers have been trained in Ukraine working in territorial communities throughout the country. It is planned that by the end of the year their number will increase to a thousand.

In order to provide all the country's terrocommunities with appropriate specialists, it is necessary to expand the training capacity and attract new personnel. During the meeting, the issue of creating such a POG training center in Lviv was raised. Currently, the Ministry, together with the American side, is working to expand the presence of POGs throughout the country.

Separately, attention was paid to the issue of involvement of the US Embassy in the organization of advanced training of specialists of the State Migration Service of Ukraine and exchange of experience with foreign specialists.
