Today, September 10, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky thanked the British Government and the British Embassy in Ukraine for their support aimed at developing the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, its reform and strengthening.
In addition, the Minister noted the high efficiency of cooperation in the framework of police interaction, especially in cooperation between cyber units of departments, the introduction of the gender aspect in the work of the police, as well as cooperation with the State Border Service of Ukraine.
An example of effective interaction of the National Police of Ukraine with representatives of law enforcement agencies of the UK and other countries is the recent international police operation EMOTET to counteract and stop the activities of a criminal group that was engaged in the distribution of malware and caused damage to various international companies of about $2 billion.. THE UNITED STATES.
Denis Monastyrsky invited the British side to join in supporting the priority projects of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, such as: the introduction of the Custody Records system and the creation of volunteer fire wives “Firefighters Volunteers”, especially in the context of adopting the UK's best practices in these areas.
The Minister also thanked the Ambassador for including Ukraine in May 2021 in the list of so-called “designated countries”. As a result, Ukrainian citizens living legally in the UK were able to exchange Ukrainian driver's licenses for British documents without the need to pass theoretical and practical exams.
Denis Monastyrsky noted that in order to create parity conditions for the exchange of British driver's licenses for Ukrainian documents, the specialists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Agency for Licensing of Drivers and Vehicles of Great Britain are currently working on a draft relevant Ukrainian-British international agreement.
In turn, the Ambassador stressed that this month a visit of British experts to Ukraine is planned for familiarization with the system of production and issuance of biometric documents, which in the future will be the subject of negotiations between the Governments of our countries in the context of possible granting Ukraine a visa-free regime.
