The support of the US State Department will facilitate the entry of the international financial institutions into the program on providing housing for policemen and rescuers.

This was announced today, on February 11, by the Minister of the MIA of Ukraine Arsen Avakov during a meeting with Assistant Secretary – the Head of Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Kirsten Madison in Washington DC, USA.

"Today we talked about the development and support of the first Motivational Program of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on providing housing for policemen and rescuers on the basis of preferential credit granting. We have received support on the structural mechanisms for the program implementation, which concerns about 200 thousand people, and interaction with international financial institutions," - Arsen Avakov said.

Also, the Head of the MIA stressed that the support of the US State Department will facilitate the entry of the international financial institutions into the program on providing housing for policemen and rescuers.

"We are talking about the participation of INL (Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs) in developing this program with the involvement of international financial institutions. Now we have involved in this program about EUR 340 million and UAH 2 billion, which are in the budget. In March, I think we will see the first contracts of the policemen and rescuers. It is important that when we have serious partners with us, then international financial institutions such as the International Bank, the Bank for Reconstruction and Development will enter this process. Here the methodology is prescribed in detail and it will be easy," - Arsen Avakov added.

Recall that the program of the MIA for providing housing for policemen and rescuers began to operate. More than 5,000 applications under the motivational program have been already received from Police officers and rescuers, each policeman and every rescuer who serves honestly and competently, after two years of service, can sign a mortgage contract with terms of up to the 20-years of preferential financial leasing, taking into account the full repayment of interest by the MIA and bonus principal leasing amount repayment up to the 40%.

Also, according to Arsen Avakov during a meeting with Kirsten Madison, special attention was paid to the issues of cybersecurity.

"In addition, we discussed the development of the such programs as "New Face of the Border", the Corps of the Operative-Rapid Action, the Academy of Patrol Police and new police units in the townships," - Arsen Avakov added.
