Arsen Avakov: Special force units of the National Police and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine completed large-scale exercises and showed excellent combat cohesion (PHOTO, VIDEO)

On November 3, 2016, in the territory of airport «Borispo» took place a demonstration of skills acquired by the staff of the "KORD" and "DOZOR" units during a joint training exercises. 39 fighters from these units have been trained by US Special Forces experts and have received world-class certificates.

This event was attended by the Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman, the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the head of the National Police Khatia Dekanoidze and the US Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador in Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman emphasized that the creation of special force units was a part of integral reform of the law enforcement system, designed to provide effective response to all contemporary criminal challenges. Such exercises, which were carried out by the best US and Ukrainian experts help to create a quality system of the law enforcement in our country.

These large-scale joint exercises on planning special operations were carried out for the staff of the National Police of Ukraine special purpose unit «KORD» and the State Border Guard Service special purpose unit «DOZOR». The main purpose of the exercises - organizational training of units, development of skills of joint planning of the special operations and quality and timely calculation of necessary troops and equipment in accordance with the specific situation.

The final phase of the joint training was held in the territory of terminal «F» of the «Boryspol» International Airport. Soldiers from the «KORD» and «DOZOR» units have shown acquired skills by demonstrating the special operations to neutralize transnational criminal group and to detain the mafia leaders.

«By holding this event we emphasize very clear the priority that the Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman have been talking about earlier - the priority of the fight against banditry and crime. I can say with confidence that we have all necessary force and well trained units to fulfill this task. We continue to improve our security system» - said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov.

The training program for the MIA special force units was implemented with the assistance of the US Embassy in Ukraine and with participation of experts from the US Drug Enforcement Administration FAST unit and the US Border Patrol special force unit BORTAC. The joint training sessions included: a theoretical course on the fight against terrorism and organized crime; training on tactical and special skills, planning and conducting of the special operations; firearms training and improvement of skills of the emergency medical assistance to the wounded on the battlefield.

«Thanks to our American colleagues we are doing this work systematically during almost two years, we are training our units in accordance with the highest international safety standards. We are proud that our boys from the «KORD» and «DOZOR» units have successfully passed the exams and received international certificates today. We will ensure security in our country and will be ready to respond to all challenges of today» - stressed the Minister of Internal Affairs.
