43 poaching traps with catches worth more than 2 million hryvnias — the day of the border guards of the Kherson detachment
Soldiers of the Kherson Border Detachment patrol the coastal strip in order to maintain the border regime and detect other violations of the legislation of Ukraine.
Yesterday, on the coast of the Dzharylgach Bay, border guards of the Skadovsk department together with representatives of the fish protection patrol found 43 shrimp hatchlings with a total length of almost 700 meters, in which there were 35,000 Atherin fish, 20,000 Black Sea bull fish, 850 red book crabs, 40 cyran fish, 5,000 sturgeon fish, 50 flounder fish and 950,000 Black Sea shrimp. In accordance with Article 63 of the Law of Ukraine “On Animal World”, border guards released aquatic living resources into the natural environment. The total amount of damage caused to the state exceeded 2 million 200 thousand hryvnias.
We note that in order to prevent violations of the state border regime, border regime, as well as to effectively counteract the illegal capture of live aquatic biological resources, operational and preventive measures “Coast-2021" are currently underway. They are carried out in cooperation with the State Inspectorate, the State Fish Agency and the National Police and will last until the end of the period of seasonal migration and spawning of aquatic living resources.
We remind you that for gross violation of the rules of fishing, citizens are administratively liable and may be fined in the amount of from 20 to 40 taxable minimum incomes of citizens with the confiscation of tools and means of committing an offense. And in the case of illegal fishing, if it caused significant damage, citizens are criminally liable and can be imprisoned for up to three years.
