Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oleksiy Sergeev took part in the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council
On January 10, 2024, an extraordinary meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council was held at the NATO headquarters in Brussels at the level of ambassadors, convened on the initiative of the Ukrainian side in connection with Russia's massive missile strikes and drone attacks on Ukraine.
Representatives of the Ukrainian side informed the allies about the consequences of massive Russian missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine and voiced the priority needs of the Ukrainian side in air defense equipment.
In particular, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs informed about the main objectives of the Russian attacks, the consequences of the recent massive Russian shelling, in particular about the scale of infrastructure destruction. He also presented the Allies with a list of the needs of the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to overcome the consequences of Russian attacks.
NATO member states strongly condemned Russia's massive missile attacks and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities, civilian facilities and civilians.
The Allies reaffirmed their commitment to support Ukraine and their readiness to provide Ukraine with the necessary support, in particular with regard to air defense capabilities.
Individual countries have made announcements regarding the next aid packages.
