Police officers have accused two people of mistreatment of animals in Odessa and Bukovina.

In Odessa, seeing a homeless dog near a residential building, a drunk man hit him for no reason with his leg. The puppy “flew away” for several meters and from the injuries received in the form of a fracture of the bones of the forearm of the right forearm and slaughter of the abdominal cavity, the animal could no longer rise. The man simply watched her suffering, and then walked away.

A local girl and a young man witnessed the event. They not only reported the incident to the police, but also took the dog to veterinarians, where it was operated on. At the moment, everything is fine with the animal and recently it has caring owners.

During the investigation, the police established the identity of the offender. The man did not deny his guilt and justified his act with alcohol intoxication.

The defendant was reported on suspicion of mistreatment of an animal belonging to vertebrates, resulting in bodily harm, committed with hooligan motives. Such illegal actions are provided for in Part 1 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and are punishable by restriction of liberty for a term of one to three years or imprisonment for a term of two to three years.

In addition, in Bukovina, police are investigating the fact of mistreatment of the animal. On October 27, the police received a report from a 37-year-old resident of the village of Milieve that her neighbor had shot a dog.

It was previously established that on that day, a homeless dog on one of the streets of the village bit the hand of a 42-year-old local resident. Subsequently, the man took his own registered shotgun from the house and fired one shot in the direction of the dog. From the resulting injury, the dog died.

Bukovynets turned to doctors to provide him with the necessary medical care. Law enforcement officers seized the weapon and the body of the dog to conduct all necessary examinations.

On this fact, the police initiated criminal proceedings provided for by Article 299 (Cruelty to Animals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
