Police officers of the Odessa region have accused the deputy and the head of the district council in the theft of state property. The elected official learned about the appearance of a speed boat in one of the Odessa yacht clubs and decided to get rich.

The boat, with two outboard motors included and a car trailer, was owned by the Southwest County State Environmental Inspectorate. The attacker persuaded the inspector of the State Inspectorate to take the property out of the city allegedly for safekeeping during the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

The boat was taken to the territory of the fishing complex. In order to create the appearance of the legality of his actions in the yacht club during the removal of the boat, the defendant searched for the passport of a citizen of Ukraine, which the owner once lost. After that, he used it at the checkpoint and left a receipt in receipt of state property. There he indicated data that belonged to a completely different person.

Taking the boat out of Odessa, the man caused the State Environmental Inspectorate material damage totaling more than two million 690 thousand hryvnias.

“In the presence of a sufficient amount of evidence collected by law enforcement officers, the offender was informed about the suspicion of the secret theft of someone else's property, that is, theft committed on a particularly large scale, under conditions of martial law. This crime qualifies under Part 5 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and is punishable by imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years with confiscation of property,” said the head of the police department No. 4 of the Odessa district police department No. 1 Oleksandr Surzhyk.

The suspect was detained. Currently, issues are being resolved regarding the election of a precautionary measure for him, his removal from office and the seizure of property.
