Canister therapy, dolphin therapy, art therapy, mountain therapy, rehabilitation through tango and many other methods of rehabilitation of military, police and rescuers are already used in medical institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. To share such experience and discuss the challenges of today, the heads of medical institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine can share this experience and discuss the challenges of today. Ministry of Internal Affairs systems were able to attend the conference.

Returning from the front for fighters can be the beginning of new trials, especially for those who have faced injuries or amputations. In such cases, rehabilitation becomes a necessary component for their return to a full life.

Thus, in medical institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more and more attention is paid to modern methods of rehabilitation for soldiers returning from war with injuries, loss of limbs, or severe stress.

Injuries or amputations can significantly affect the physical capabilities of fighters. However, rehabilitation helps them restore motor function, strengthen muscles and return to an active lifestyle. Physical therapy classes, the use of prostheses and rehabilitation training help maintain or restore mobility, which is essential for autonomy and the ability to perform daily tasks.

Injuries in war can have a serious impact on the mental health of fighters. Psychological support and therapy play an important role in rehabilitation, helping fighters overcome stress as well as learn to manage emotions effectively.

An example of a new technique that already works in medical institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is canister therapy, which is based on interaction with dogs in order to improve the psychological state of veterans.

“Canister therapy is one of the ways to help Ukrainian defenders in the fight against psychological trauma. Despite the fact that this technique is only being implemented in Ukraine, we are already seeing the first successful results of such therapy,” said Nina Belova, deputy head of one of the Medical Rehabilitation Centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

She noted that canister therapy classes help reduce anxiety and stress levels, improve communication skills, and promote a sense of responsibility. Interacting with dogs increases the level of physical activity of fighters, which is beneficial for overall health and recovery from injuries.

Another method of improving the psycho-emotional state of fighters is dolphin therapy. Contact with dolphins helps reduce stress levels, improves mood and increases self-esteem.

“After a dolphin therapy session, the patient can more freely come into contact with others, sleep, memory improves, psycho-emotional state stabilizes, and movements are restored. The ultrasound emitted by dolphins has a positive effect on the fighters,” said Stepan Petsiukh, deputy head of one of the Medical Rehabilitation Centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In general, interaction with these marine mammals stimulates the production of endorphins — natural antidepressants that help improve mood and overall well-being. Dolphin therapy helps fighters focus on positive emotions, as well as restore motor functions.

The introduction of dolphin therapy and canister therapy in the medical facilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs opens up new opportunities for veterans in returning to life after service.
