Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the explosives of the National Police have defused about 40 combat units of cruise missiles and more than 30 aviation bombs
Every day, explosive police teams clear our land of thousands of unexploded shells, bombs and drones, evacuate territories liberated from the enemy, and defuse the remnants of Russian cruise missiles.
So, the other day, police officers of the Explosive Service of the National Police and Explosives of the Kiev Police neutralized part of the X-101 cruise missile, which fell on a residential building during one of the massive rocket attacks of the capital.
“Such combat units weigh about 400 kg, they are extremely dangerous. So usually for the safety of the explosives specialist, they are destroyed by detonation on the spot. But in this case, when part of the rocket fell in the middle of the city, the explosives first transferred it to an accessible state for manipulation, and then transported it to an area where its detonation did not harm civilian infrastructure,” says Dmytro, Deputy Head of the Explosive Service Department of the Police of the National Police of Ukraine Karakurkchi.
Defusing cruise missiles and aerial bombs is a difficult and lengthy process that requires the involvement of a large number of police officers from various services, the use of special equipment. In this case, the explosives technicians used a multifunctional robotic demining machine of the type GSC-100, provided by colleagues from the German Federal Police, and a special truck.
In total, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the units of the Explosive Service have defused more than 30 aviation bombs, including coordinated and with planning and correction modules, about 40 combat units of cruise missiles of the type X-101, X-59, X-22, Caliber and others. In addition, about 100 Kamikaze drones such as Geranium, Cube, Lancet, as well as several Iskander-M and Daggal ballistic missile warheads were neutralized.
