According to the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, today, October 27, employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine received from the governments of Great Britain and Northern Ireland nine fire and rescue vehicles, as well as fire and rescue equipment.
Humanitarian assistance from British partners includes fire and rescue cars, grinders, mine search kit, generators, bags with hydraulic hoses, work clothes, helmets and many other important cargo worth almost UAH 300,000.
The transfer ceremony took place in Lviv with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Mary Akopian, the Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maxim Kozytskyi and the Head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv Region Yuri Kagitin. The British side was represented by the founder of the road safety NGO “Impact”, which is a partner of the British community FIRE AID UK, Oksana Romanukha.
Mary Akopyan emphasized that along with everyday duties, rescuers in wartime conditions perform a huge amount of tasks related to the elimination of the consequences of the invasion of the Russian army.
“Today, rescuers must be able to respond to all possible challenges. Therefore, the upgrade of the logistics base will significantly increase the combat capability of fire and rescue units and contribute to the effective performance of tasks as intended. Thank you to the Government of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, NGO “Impact”, FIRE AID UK and everyone who contributed to helping our rescue heroes,” said the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In turn, Oksana Romanukha noted that each convoy sent by the British people was a show of solidarity with the Ukrainians.
“We will continue to help rescuers during this difficult time. We admire the courage of Ukrainian firefighters and hope that assistance in the form of cars and equipment will help them in their work,” Oksana Romanukha said.
“I am very grateful for the assistance provided by the SNS. Every car and every protective suit benefits not only rescuers, but also the state. With your help, you make it possible to respond faster to emergencies, because the countdown is not for hours, but for seconds. You are not just helping, you are saving the lives of Ukrainians,” said the head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv region Yuriy Kagitin.
It should be noted that this is no longer the first aid from the Government of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Ukrainian rescuers. A total of 63 units of fire and rescue equipment and a lot of fire and rescue equipment were provided.
