The authoritative Wikipedia notes that nuclear terrorism is a type of terrorism that uses nuclear weapons or radioactive materials, threats to use nuclear weapons and radioactive materials, to destroy nuclear facilities. Until February 24, 2022, this type of terrorism did not have terrible, large-scale consequences for humanity. However, with the beginning of the active phase of Russia's war against Ukraine, such a threat has become a reality, because the Rashists widely use nuclear blackmail to achieve their goals.

In the early days of the aggression, the Russian invaders occupied the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Then 169 servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine were captured. The station was occupied by the troops of the Russian Federation from February 24 to March 31. All this time, the occupiers held virtually 200 station workers hostage.

During the occupation, radiation levels in the area of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant increased, in particular due to the fact that Russian military equipment deployed the topsoil. In addition, Russian soldiers dug in and sat for a long time in spots of radiation pollution, in particular, in the famous “Red Forest” near the station, where they could receive dangerous doses of radiation. Leaving the station, the invaders damaged and looted low facilities at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.

On the evening of February 26, Russian military equipment, in particular “Grad”, approached the city of Energodar and turned towards Zaporizhia NPP - the largest in Europe and the sixth nuclear power plant in the world. On March 4, after heavy fighting on the streets of Energodar, the occupiers seized the station. At the same time, they fired at it, as a result of which there was a fire.

Today, the NPP continues to be occupied, its workers, as well as residents of the satellite city of Energodar, became hostages of the Rashists, whose actions put the world in danger of a new nuclear catastrophe. Unfortunately, the world community still has not stopped the barbarism of the invaders, and they, enjoying impunity, continue to take new and new steps in an extremely dangerous direction.

From the first days of the Rascist invasion, researchers at the Chernobyl National Museum began collecting materials accusing Russia of nuclear terrorism. These are numerous photo and video materials, documents, testimonies of employees of nuclear facilities that have been occupied by the enemy. The Museum was assisted in this matter by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Explosive and Technical Service of the National Police of Ukraine, the Main Department of the National Police of Ukraine in the Kiev region, the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kiev region, the State Enterprise “National Atomic Energy Generating Company “Energoatom”. The collected materials became the basis for the exhibition “Nuclear terrorism. Investigation”.

Everyone is invited to visit the Museum at a convenient time for them. Excursions are held regardless of the situation in Kiev with energy supply. The museum is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm except Sunday, the ticket office is open until 5 pm.
