In Dnipro, a criminal group will be tried for the sale of humanitarian vests
As established by law enforcement officers, protective ammunition — armor vests of the 4th class of protection of foreign production — under the guise of humanitarian assistance was transferred free of charge to a charitable foundation. In the future, armored vests were to be received by the servicemen of the Armed Forces. However, three volunteers of the foundation decided to earn money and began to look for sales channels.
In June 2022, operatives of the Directorate of Strategic Investigations in the Dnipropetrovsk region, investigators of the Investigative Department of the Regional Police, together with the SBU, detained one of the defendants during an attempt to sell a batch of humanitarian military ammunition. In the car were found 16 body armor vests and 520 thousand hryvnias. Subsequently, the detainee and two participants of the scheme were informed of the suspicion under Part 2 and 3 of Art. 27, Part 3 of Art. 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings has been completed, the indictment in agreement with the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office in relation to three members of the organized criminal group has been sent to court.
Illegal use for profit of humanitarian aid, charitable donations or gratuitous assistance can be threatened with five to seven years in prison.
