On March 5, a memorial plaque was opened in the city of Bucha in memory of the brave policeman who defended his hometown — Yuri Chabakh.

The man met a full-scale invasion in Borodyanka on duty, but in a few days he managed to escape from there and come to his native Bucha, where his parents and wife were waiting for him.

Yuri was not going to sit and hide at home, he tried to organize his neighbors to resist the Russian troops, because he understood that in the near future they would be on his street. Very quickly Yuri decided to take up arms and leave the house, because he understood that if the enemy came first to his parents' house, he would kill his whole family.

Subsequently, Yuri Chabakh's parents managed to leave the occupied Bucha, and their house burned to the ground due to the enemy's attack on the private sector of the city. They did not receive any news from their son, because there was no way to contact.

In early April 2022, during the exhumation of the mass grave on the territory of the Church of Andrew the First-Called, the body of Yuri Chabakh was found, and with him was his police token.

By the Presidential Decree “For personal courage and selfless actions in defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath, conscientious and impeccable performance of official duty” Captain Yuriy Chabakh was awarded the Order “For Courage” of the 3rd degree.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine within the framework of the project “Shot by Russia” released in December 2023 a film in memory of the faithful oath of law enforcement officer Yuri Chabakh.
