The attacker collected weapons, ammunition and explosives in areas close to the zone of active fighting and sold. On the sale of weapons, the man earned more than 670 thousand hryvnias.

The arms dealer was exposed by the operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department together with investigators of the Kiev police and police units of the Kharkiv region, with employees of the SBU and under the procedural guidance of the Darnytsky specialized prosecutor's office in the field of defense of the central region.

It was established that a 48-year-old resident of the Kharkiv region was engaged in the sale of weapons via the Internet, where he was looking for buyers. He accepted payment in hryvnias and dollars, using conspiracy methods. For example, the offender sold a Kalashnikov assault rifle and an under-barrel grenade launcher for 61,000 hryvnias. He transported the “goods” both by mail and from hand to hand.

Police conducted several stages of operational measures and 8 authorized searches. During the inspection of the land belonging to the suspect, detectives found a gun shell.

In total, the defendant seized ATK “Kondrs”, two Kalashnikov assault rifles, an SGD rifle, two subbarrel grenade launchers, 15 anti-tank grenades, 6 shots for a grenade launcher, 4 grenades “F-1", more than 13.4 thousand rounds of various calibers, as well as more than 40 kg of explosives (trotile, plastid).

The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. He was declared suspected of committing the crime provided for in Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives.

The detainee faces from 3 to 7 years in prison.

We emphasize that illegal storage of weapons, in particular those found on the ground of hostilities, entails criminal liability. Punishment is not provided only if “such a find” is voluntarily issued to law enforcement agencies.
