Now you can exchange a Ukrainian driver's license in Gdansk
Gdansk became the second city in Poland where you can get the service of exchanging a national driver's license issued in Ukraine.
Thanks to the cooperation of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Migration Service of Ukraine, the geography of service provision is expanding. This is an unprecedented situation that documents giving the right to drive vehicles of one country are issued in the territory of another.
The Ukrainian driver's license exchange service became available in Gdansk, and from the beginning of September it was provided in Warsaw. Consequently, getting government services abroad becomes even more convenient. In the first two days of providing the service in Gdansk, 17 Ukrainians managed to use it.
This was made possible by the opening of another public service center of the State Enterprise “Dokument”, which started working at the address: Gdansk, 80-809, Cienista, 30, (shopping center “Kaufland — Galeria Chełm”).
The certificate exchange service is provided by:
- in case of changing the driver's personal data (when the person has changed the surname, first name, patronymic or gender);
- when the validity period has expired (relevant mainly for driver's licenses issued for the first time, since their validity period is 2 years);
- in case of damage to the driver's license (damaged, the records are not readable).
It is possible to register for the exchange online — in electronic queue and in the “live” order — by receiving the voucher directly in the premises of the State Enterprise “Dokument”.
It is important that the exchange service is provided only in person, except in the presence of a physical document, since the existing driver's certificate should be transferred to the administrator of the center of the DP “Document”. Required documents for obtaining the service:
- passport of a citizen of Ukraine;
- certificate (original or copy) on the assignment of the registration number of the taxpayer's registration card;
- driver's license to be exchanged.
The algorithm for providing the service has the following steps: the administrator of SE “Document” receives an application from citizens, fills out a certain form and sends it for consideration to the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The administrator reviews the application and confirms or not. In case of obtaining consent — successful processing of the application — the employee of SE “Dokument” prints the driver's license on the form. The finished residence permit can be picked up on the day of application.

Recall: from the end of August in Warsaw at 02-222, Jerusalemskaya Alley, 179, shopping center “Blue City”, there is also a center of the State Enterprise “Document”, where you can exchange a Ukrainian driver's license. As of November 16, 2022, 1144 driver's license exchanges have already taken place there.
Within the framework of cooperation between State Enterprise “Dokument” and the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it is expected to expand the possibilities to provide the same driver's license exchange services already in Krakow.
