Shot by Russia: 24-year-old policeman from Kramatorsk killed at checkpoint by enemy missile
Bogdan Zasukhin joined the police in 2020 in his native Kramatorsk. There the guy was born and grew up, so he decided to build a life also in Donetsk region.
In Kramatorsk, Bohdan Zasukhin met with a full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022. Without hesitation, he decided to stay in the city, serve and stand up for security and law and order.
“At the checkpoints, we checked vehicles, persons for involvement in the DRG, for the involvement of illegal transportation of weapons, drugs and other illegal substances,” he told the brothers.
On January 2, 2023, Bohdan Zasukhin took up duty. A few days before, he bought himself a car, because he had been with them since childhood, and planned to celebrate the New Year with friends and his beloved girlfriend. But the plans were not destined to come true.
At about 11:30 p.m., there was an explosion. Ambulances moved rapidly towards one of the checkpoints of Kramatorsk. Russian troops hit the city with a rocket, hitting a young law enforcement officer near the place where he was serving that night.
“Bogdan died on the spot. He had injuries incompatible with life. The leg was broken by shrapnel, it was kept only on soft tissues and the armor was pierced by a splinter from under the back,” recalls his brother Alan Boliev, who was at the checkpoint that night.
Bogdan Zasukhin most of all dreamed of making an offer to his girlfriend Lilia. The couple met at work and every moment they tried to be close. The guy is buried in his native Kramatorsk on the Alley of Heroes. A blue-yellow screed develops over his grave, and the sounds of explosions are constantly heard from the front line.
