Shooting of a car with residents of Gostomel: investigators completed a pre-trial investigation into 5 occupiers
Law enforcement officers sent the case to court regarding the defendants, who during the temporary occupation of Gostomel fired on 10 civilian cars, as a result of which people died. Criminals face up to fifteen years or life imprisonment.
Investigators found that during the temporary occupation of Gostomel, the occupiers fired on 10 cars with civilians trying to leave the combat zone in the direction of Kiev. Then, as a result of the shelling, five people were killed and another six were wounded.
In the course of conducting a number of investigative and operational-search activities, the investigators of the capital gathered the necessary evidence base to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Five defendants, born in 1971, 1976, 1978, 1993, were notified in absentia of the suspicion of committing the crime provided for in Part 2 of Art. 28 Part 2 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder. The sanction of the article provides for up to fifteen years or life imprisonment.
Currently, investigators of the Kiev police under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office and the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office have completed the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder.
The indictment is sent to the court for consideration of the case on the merits.
