Russians use obsolete ammunition, but with modern elements on which timers are installed, - Yevgeny Yenin
A DSNS sapper in Nikolaev came into contact with the situation in which a timer was installed on Soviet cassette ammunition. Yevhenii Yenin, the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, told about this in the live broadcast of the All-Ukrainian tele-marathon UASoM.
“We have repeatedly said that the Russians have been using cluster munitions from the time of the Soviet Union, at the same time we see that the limbs that stand on these munitions are modern, they contain photovoltaic cells, retarders. In the middle of such ammunition there is a huge amount of shrapnel, maybe 400 and 500,” Yevgeny Yenin said.
According to him, these shrapnel, like a butter knife, “stitch” even metal and concrete, not to mention the bodies of people. Within a radius of 50 meters, there is practically no chance of survival.
“In Nikolaev, when our sapper started working on such ammunition, he was at a distance of 1-1.5 meters and detonated not only this ammunition, but four — the timer worked, which was set for a certain time. The life of the sapper was saved by a suit that withstood the impact of the shrapnel. Once again, I emphasize that it is dangerous to approach, touch, perform some independent actions with ammunition,” said the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
