Combating domestic violence with online tools
Statistics in recent years indicate a steady trend: citizens report domestic violence more, law enforcement agencies respond more effectively to it. Ukrainian society recognizes the problem and strives to solve it. Therefore, we continue to pay a lot of attention to this topic. After all, our goal is not simply to detect and stop, but to make domestic violence impossible.
To combat domestic violence, we have a real arsenal. A significant place in it is occupied by online tools, which have certain advantages.
What do they consist of? For example, sometimes a phone call to a hotline is not possible, or will lead to an escalation of violence. And in this case, the alternative is a message in the chat bot of the Ministry of Internal Affairs #ДійПротиНасильства, which operates in two messengers: - Chatbot Telegram; - Chatbot Vibe r.
The chatbot contains several sections and with its help you can:
- call the police and “ambulance”;
- find the coordinates of the nearest social services and organizations that can help; - contact specialists who will provide free legal assistance online.
In addition, the chatbot also has an information section where you can find out what domestic violence is, how to counteract it, and how the police can help.
The official mobile application of the National Police of Ukraine “MyPol” also contributes to the fight against domestic violence. One of the functions of the application is an instant police call with one click. A person affected by domestic violence presses the SOS button — and law enforcement immediately receives information about the person and their location and provides a response.
For witnesses of domestic violence, there is an option “Report an offense”, where it is possible to attach photo evidence of the offense.
It will also be useful to watch the educational series “Online tools to combat domestic violence”, which was filmed jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and available on the platform “Diya.Digital Education”.
