Propagated totalitarianism and communist narratives: in Transcarpathia the rectors of the UOC MP will be tried

Law enforcement officers of the Transcarpathian region have completed a pre-trial investigation into the anti-Ukrainian activities of two abbots of the churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.

30-year-old and 43-year-old clerics from the Tyachivsky district in social networks publicly planted narratives of the communist regime on the audience. In addition, the men spread symbols and Russian slogans banned in Ukraine, as well as promoted the totalitarian regime.

The accused are incriminated in Part 1 of Art. 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Manufacture, dissemination of communist, Nazi symbols and propaganda of communist and national-socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes). The indictments together with the materials of criminal proceedings will be directed for trial. In accordance with the sanction of the article, defendants face up to 5 years in prison with or without confiscation of property.
