Stopped drug traffic to the capital's detention center: criminals face up to 15 years in prison
Every month, the participants of the group spent more than 500 thousand hryvnias on the purchase of goods. Part of the “profit” from the sold drugs went to the replenishment of the so-called “community”, the rest - to the purchase of new batches of drugs. The organizer and five of his accomplices, including the so-called “sightseers”, face up to 15 years in prison.
According to the investigation, the organizer of this group was a 43-year-old so-called “spy” for drug trafficking in one of the buildings of the detention center. As accomplices, he involved individuals from the will and detainees of the detention center, who had clearly defined roles. Also involved in the distribution of drugs was a 46-year-old woman “spotter”. She controlled drug traffic in the women's building, received goods from the organizer of the group and transferred funds from its sales. Drugs got into the detention center through transfers, which participants formed “at will”, carefully hiding the “goods” among other things.
In November 2022, operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations, investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police, together with the Office of the Prosecutor General and employees of the special agency blocked the drug supply and sale channel in the territory of the capital's detention center.
Currently, the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings has been completed, the indictment against six persons has been referred to the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of the city. Kiev. Depending on the roles in criminal activity, those involved are incriminated:
- part 2 tbsp. 255-1 (Establishment or dissemination of criminal influence);
- part 2 tbsp. 306 (Use of funds obtained from the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, precursors, poisonous or potent substances or poisonous or potent drugs);
- Part 3 of Art. 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or marketing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues);
- part 4 tbsp. 321 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, transportation, shipment, storage for the purpose of sale or sale of poisonous or potent substances or poisonous or potent drugs) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The accused faces up to 15 years in prison.
