The President of Ukraine awarded the Order of the “Golden Star” to the families of the dead guards, who were awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine
The ceremony took place in the White Hall of Heroes of Ukraine in the Mariinsky Palace in Kiev. The Head of State stressed that Ukraine continues the tradition of gratitude to its best soldiers, those who were distinguished by the greatest bravery and heroism in the battles for Ukraine.
“Every story of our soldiers, who are awarded the highest title of Hero, is the pride of our country. And so it will always be. These are people who showed the strength of their own will to make Ukraine free,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.
The President stressed that such brave warriors are an honor for the state. He thanked the parents of Ukrainian Heroes for raising such children.
“I thank all of you for the independence of Ukraine. I ask you to always honor the courage of our people who gave their lives for our country and people. May their memory always be bright,” the Head of State said.
They were distinguished by special bravery and heroism in battles and gave their lives for the sake of Ukraine:
Lieutenant Colonel Igor Demchuk took part in the liberation of the village of Yahydny in Chernihiv region, fought in the area of Severodonetsk, Vuhledar, Urozhaynyy. In August 2023, he died from an enemy aircraft bomb.
Sergeant Alexander Romanov in 2022 in Kharkiv region ensured the deblocking of one of the units of the National Guard of Ukraine, but did not manage to leave in time. The junior sergeant was wounded, he was left to cover the group's departure until the last charge and breath.
Colonel Andriy Pryimachenko in April 2022 was distinguished by courageous and heroic actions in fierce battles in the Izyum direction.
