On the Day of the National Police of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky met with law enforcement officers, presented state awards and conferred special titles.

The events were also attended by: Head of the Office of the Head of State Andrei Yermak, Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky, Head of the National Police Igor Klymenko.

“The work of police officers has always been and will be the basis of law and order in our country. It depends on you whether people feel safe, first of all — safety on the streets of our Ukraine. People's sense of justice also begins with the results of your service, with your conscientiousness and your professionalism,” Volodymyr Zelensky said, congratulating police officers on a professional holiday.

The President thanked the law enforcement officers for their conscientious work for the benefit of Ukrainian society.

The Head of State stressed that today, in times of full-scale Russian invasion, employees of the National Police, along with other security and defense forces, protect our state at the forefront.

“Police officers come to the aid of people during shelling, provide evacuation, help transport humanitarian goods. Sappers of the National Police, explosives, carry out demining of our Ukrainian land, streets, houses. All this is the saving of human lives,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The President noted that in the current conditions, Ukrainian police officers, in addition to their daily work, also have to document war crimes of the Russian army.

“The National Police has launched more than 20,000 criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes of the Russian military. I am grateful to you for this important work. Because punishing the occupiers for everything they have done against the citizens of Ukraine is our national task,” the Head of State said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of solving the problems of modernizing the material and technical base of the National Police and providing law enforcement officers with housing.

“Resolving these and other problems is bound to be part of our recovery from the war. Maximum security for Ukraine, and therefore the development of the National Police as one of the security elements, is certainly our priority. I am grateful to you for your service, and I would like to do everything so that you really feel the gratitude of the state in the way you live and in what conditions you work,” the President said.

Those present honored the memory of the dead law enforcement officers with a minute of silence.
