This year, about 23 thousand Hasidic pilgrims arrived in Uman of the Cherkasy region to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. Ukrainian police officers coped “perfectly” with the task of ensuring security. First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yevgeny Yenin told about it on the air of the UA tele-marathon.

“As of September 26, 22,800 Hasidic pilgrims arrived in Uman of Cherkasy region. Public safety and road safety are provided by more than 600 Ukrainian police officers. This time, the State of Israel refrained from sending its police representatives to assist our law enforcement officers. However, I have to note that our police officers coped “perfectly” this year. The police escorted buses through the territory of the state, on which pilgrims arrived and continue to arrive. Over the past day alone, more than 300 people arrived,” Yevgeny Yenin said.

The first deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also noted that during the arrival of the Hasidic pilgrims, just over 80 appeals were received to the police authorities about events related to their arrival in the region.

“A total of 10 criminal proceedings were opened, 15 protocols on administrative offenses were drawn up and almost the same number of decisions on offenses were issued. In general, the situation is under control,” Yevgeny Yenin emphasized.
