More than 25 million losses on the purchase of medical equipment: six company executives announced suspicions
The capital's law enforcers announced suspicions of tightness to the heads of enterprises that supplied medical equipment to Ukraine at inflated prices.
The police found that the directors of private enterprises developed a scheme of illegal enrichment by overstating the cost of equipment supplied to them for budget funds. Officials of health institutions were also involved in the criminal scheme. They, together with managers of private enterprises, developed tender documentation for specific bidders and rejected offers from other suppliers.
Thus, the directors of medical institutions entered into contracts with companies that specialize in the sale of high-cost medical equipment.
According to the conclusions of the commodity and economic examination, the prices of this equipment were significantly overestimated from their average market value and the heads of medical institutions committed a waste of state funds in the total amount of more than 25 million 500 thousand hryvnias.
The defendants were searched. Working documents confirming the collusion of officials of medical institutions with enterprises and documents confirming market prices for supplied equipment have been removed.
Investigators announced to the violators of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - appropriation, squandering of property or possession of it by abuse of official position. The sex sanction provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years and with confiscation of property.
