Results of humanitarian demining by pyrotechnic units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
The results of humanitarian demining by pyrotechnic units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as of June 14 were reported by the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alyona Matveeva during a weekly briefing in Ukrinform.
The coastal waters of the Azov and Black Seas need demining, the area of pollution, which can be up to 19 thousand square kilometers. Full demining of Ukraine, taking into account international experience, can take from 5 to 10 years.
To coordinate and systematize these works under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the International Coordination Center on Humanitarian Drainage was established, and the State Emergency Service is the main executor of demining work in Ukraine. In addition, European partners are involved in the humanitarian demining of Ukraine. In particular, the European Civil Protection Mechanism is involved. Thus, the forces of 30 countries involved in the EMCC have already provided 40,000 tons of support, in particular, about 400 fire and rescue vehicles, special equipment and clothing needed by Ukrainian rescuers in the neutralized “heritage” of Russian troops.
“Currently, the main efforts of our services are concentrated in Chernihiv and Sumy regions, as well as in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Nikolaev, Donetsk and Luhansk regions, where hostilities continue,” Alyona Matveeva said.
In total, during the demining of Kyiv, Chernihiv and Sumy regions, 274 settlements were cleared of mines and munitions: in Kiev region - 229, Chernihiv - 27, in Sumy region - 18. 809 km of highways, 127 km of railway tracks, 1197 infrastructure facilities, 28 km of gas pipelines and more than 1 thousand km of power lines were exchanged.
Separately, the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed about the situation in the Kiev region.
“To date, about 80% of explosive objects that appeared as a result of hostilities have been seized and neutralized in the Kyiv region. Explosion safety of settlements and infrastructure facilities at the proper level. All relevant services proceed to the establishment of a peaceful life. Surveys of agricultural land are ongoing. The fields of LLC “Agrofirma Kyivska”, “Dymerka Solar”, “Grona Agro”, “AGRO”, “UIFC AGRO”, “Promin” have already been examined, - said Alyona Matveeva.
It should be noted that the pyrotechnic units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs count on the active assistance of the population. At a time when specialists are engaged in direct mining, Ukrainians can consciously minimize the consequences of “mine clogging”, in particular, use and visit only those places that are guaranteed to be verified by pyrotechnics specialists. At the moment, according to the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, there are tragic cases indicating a safe attitude to the mine threat.
“Unfortunately, we have many cases of death and injury of people from explosive objects during field work, agricultural machinery is blown up in mines. For the most part, such cases occur in Kiev and Chernihiv regions. In addition, there are a number of attempts to hand over GNP for scrap metal or even use it for criminal purposes,” the speaker noted.
Recall, if you find explosive objects, immediately call “101” and “102” or report using the application “Mine Ukraine”. On the interactive service “Anti-mine activities of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine” you can get operational information on the demining of the territory of Ukraine, the rules of conduct in case of detection of GNP, as well as report on the detected GNP.
