Support for the civilian security forces of Ukraine: Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine intensifies cooperation with international partners
The delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs headed by Kateryna Pavlichenko, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, discussed further cooperation with Anka Feldhusen, the Director for Crisis Prevention and Stabilisation at the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany. The event was held via video conference. Representatives from the EU, the United Kingdom and the United States joined the event. Rolf Holmboe, the Head of EUAM Ukraine, also spoke at the meeting.
“Expanding the cooperation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the units coordinated by the Ministry with international partners in the context of civilian security constitutes a key priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine today,” - emphasised Kateryna Pavlichenko in her speech.
The Ukrainian party informed the partners that the hostilities and their consequences have significantly expanded the range of tasks and forces of the civilian security of Ukraine. The units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine are involved in repelling the enemy at the frontline and maintaining security stability inside Ukraine, as well as carrying out humanitarian demining.
Police officers, guardsmen, rescuers and border guards presented to the attendees the priority areas of operations and functions performed by their units. They also shared the information on the use of the foreign assistance received in their work.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine keeps records of all equipment received from international partners and controls its use exclusively for the purpose intended,”- noted Kateryna Pavlichenko.
In her turn, Anka Feldhusen, the Director for Crisis Prevention and Stabilisation at the German Federal Foreign Office, stressed the importance of increasing donor engagement and coordinating international support for the civilian security sector forces under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
“It is essential to increase the coordination of assistance to Ukraine in order to strengthen its democratic resilience,” underlined Anka Feldhusen.
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine expressed her gratitude to the German party and international organisations for the initiative to arrange this meeting and expressed the readiness of the Ukrainian party to continue cooperation:
“I would like to express my hope that our meeting will result in a new effective format of cooperation, wherein the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the European Union Advisory Mission, as our long-term reliable partner, are ready to commit to establishing a dialogue on attracting and coordinating international assistance”.
