Law enforcement officials found that a 31-year-old resident of Kryvyi Rih, who positioned himself as a pastor and preacher in three different religious organizations, produced fictitious documents for “clients”, thanks to which they were able to cross the state border of Ukraine during the martial law, and also took them out by his own transport.

The fictitious documents stated that citizens who tried to leave Ukraine were allegedly deacons or preachers of one of these three religious organizations.

On August 4, law enforcement officers detained a “pastor-preacher” and one of his “clients” during an attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine. In general, his involvement in the commission of ten similar crimes was established.

Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings opened under Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 332 (Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The indictment is directed to the court.

For the crime, the suspect faces punishment — imprisonment for a term of five to seven years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years.

Another illegal transfer for men was exposed in the Odessa region. The head of the illegal scheme, together with the henchmen, carried out a search for potential “clients” who aimed to evade the summons and illegally enter the Republic of Moldova.

To create their “client base”, they disseminated information about the possibility of illegally going abroad through Internet resources and among border residents.

Prices for customers of such services started from 5200 US dollars. Initially, potential asylum seekers abroad had to provide a deposit of $1,500, with the rest already in the territory of an adjacent state.

At present, the offender has been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Code and reported on suspicion under Article 332 of the Criminal Code “Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine”.
