“The occupiers, that fairy-tale liliputes are evil creatures without honor and conscience” - the story of the guard under the pseudonym Gulliver
The machinist of the 5th Slobozhanska Brigade of the NGU Gulliver told about the motivation in the war, lilyputes and two downed drones in one battle.
The military man graduated from vocational school as an auto mechanic, but did not have time to work for him, because he was drafted into the army. And this, according to Gulliver, changed his life forever.
“In the 90s, he served as a conscript in the 3027 military unit, the special unit “Bars”. It was then the equivalent of the National Guard. So, we can say that I stood at the origins of the NGU,” Gulliver notes.
Immediately after the army, the national guard went to work in the detention center, where he served 5 years. Despite the years of service (in the penitentiary service they count a year of service for one and a half — ed.), he quit, worked as a storekeeper, then 5 years in the foundry at the Kharkiv Tractor Plant.
“The work was hard, harmful, but they paid well. In year 14, I volunteered, but due to an occupational leg injury received at the plant, I was only enrolled in reserve. They said they would only fight if there was a full-scale war. That's what happened,” says Gulliver.
Until February 24, 2022, he lived in Northern Saltovka. When the Russian invaders began to throw air bombs and shells on his area, he realized that he had to take his family out and go to the military enlistment office.
“I had good military training, so this time they took it without question,” Yuri smiles and continues to talk about his combat path in this war. - “Three zeros behind my back: Balakliya, Kupyansk, Kreminna. Some say that the National Guard — supporters of the Armed Forces, always goes after the Armed Forces and only uses their laurels. I say responsibly - this is not true! We stood and stand on the front lines and fight just like the Armed Forces. It can be difficult, but we hold our position.”
Gulliver's commanders told about the battle, during which Yuri shot down two “birds” of the invaders.
“It is difficult to hit a drone, I think by chance (laughs), but it turned out - from a Pokemon (this is what Kalashnikov's machine gun is called - ed.), this is it,” Gulliver points to his machine gun, and continues, “the drone fell between us and the positions of the invaders. In general, the most difficult thing is to get out of the chanter, because they pour out. If you get out, it's easier. And we shot down the second drone with the guys, not only I shot.”
“In mid-March this year, the enemy tried to attack our positions. And after an unsuccessful tank attack, he began to attack the position of VOG - 17. With an accurate shot, Yuri shot down the enemy's strike and reconnaissance drone. After the fall, it immediately exploded without having time to drop the grenades. A few minutes later, Yuri noticed another enemy drone on the horizon. So, neutralized him as well. After the fall, the lethal device remained almost intact, and the flash drive that was in it provided a lot of useful information regarding the whereabouts of the drone operator. According to the received coordinates, artillery was brought and the enemy's dungeon was destroyed, from which enemy drones were repeatedly launched,” said Izyum, the commander of Yuri.
When asked about his motivation to fight on the front lines and what role fear plays on the battlefield, Gulliver answers immediately, without hesitation: “Of course fear is present, but there are things more important than it. We must understand why we are gathered here, we are not a club of interests, we are doing a common thing. If we all refuse, then the country will not be. You have to hide your fear. We stand for the future of Ukraine! Let it be!”
“I have a wife, I have three children. They are proud of me, they need to set an example. You can not be afraid when the Motherland is in danger, what will grow out of them if the father is a coward? Children should know that the Cossacks have not yet passed over to us. And the occupiers need to know that. They are just like fabulous liliputes. Small, vicious creatures without honor and conscience,” the guard concludes his story.
