Germany to step up assistance to Ukraine in demining and war crimes investigation

This became known today, during the meeting of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky with the Federal Minister of Internal Affairs and Integrated Territorial Development of Germany Nancy Fezer, who arrived with an official visit to Ukraine.

The parties agreed that the German government will strengthen assistance to Ukraine in the investigation of war and cyber crimes.

Cooperation on humanitarian demining of areas where hostilities took place will also be strengthened. Today, about 212 thousand square kilometers of the territory of Ukraine need this.

“We had a few topics to talk about. One of them was the investigation of war crimes. We are very grateful to Germany for the help it has already provided. The Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs provided technical assistance for the needs of our expert service for a total amount of about 1.25 million euros. This is a very significant contribution to the investigation of such crimes,” said Denis Monastyrsky.

During the visit to Ukraine, the German delegation visited the most destroyed cities of Kyiv region and Antonov Airport. There they saw firsthand the atrocities of the Russian army and the process of demining Ukrainian territories.

Minister Nancy Fuser assured that Germany fully supports Ukraine in this invasion war. The country will fully assist in investigations of war crimes.

In addition, she noted that Germany has now accepted 850,000 forced migrants from Ukraine.

“We want to organize a safe haven for Ukrainian families who cannot return home. We plan to give them the opportunity to work, children to go to kindergartens and schools,” the Minister said.
