Today, during a working meeting, the Deputy Minister of the Interior Mary Akopian and the British Defense Attaché at the Embassy of Ukraine, Air Commodore Peter Cracroft, discussed the possibilities of solving the problems of humanitarian demining of the de-occupied territories of Ukraine and the training of military specialists of the National Guard.

The delegations, in particular, discussed the training by British specialists of the servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine, in particular, about the involvement of officers and command staff of units and military units of the NGU in training.

“From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian forces in Ukraine, the fighters of the National Guard have been defending the country in the hottest spots: Mariupol, Avdiyivka, Severodonetsk, where the fiercest and fiercest fighting took place. From day one, they are at the forefront. Therefore, the British training would be useful for the command of the NGU units to perform combat tasks even more effectively,” said Mary Akopian.

The parties discussed the possibilities of solving the problems of humanitarian demining. Currently, such demining requires an area of about 270 thousand square kilometers, including temporarily occupied territories. Full demining of areas contaminated with explosive objects will take 5-10 years.

The Deputy Minister also informed the British partners about the current state of affairs in the country regarding the military aggression of the Russian Federation and the situation that has developed around the Zaporizhia NPP.

The British partners agreed to support the Ministry of Internal Affairs in these matters. The parties agreed to develop a list of priority needs for pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
