The National Police received from the United States a new package of assistance for documenting crimes of the Russian Federation
Today, February 16, the Situation Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine held a ceremony of transfer of US technical assistance for investigative units. It is about 66 cars, 250 drones, 9 3D terrestrial laser scanning systems with software and a DNA laboratory.
At the beginning of the event, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko thanked the US authorities and personally Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Bridget Brink for comprehensive assistance to Ukraine during almost two years of full-scale war. He said that during this time, the law enforcement department of the US Embassy transferred more than $287 million of assistance to the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system.
“Our American partners, our friends, have given us the opportunity for two years to defend our country, to believe in our strength, to receive the appropriate equipment, weapons and in general any assistance we need. The United States once again provides us with a large package of assistance, which will go to the forces of the National Police of Ukraine and units of the State Border Guard Service. You make a huge contribution to the development and functioning of our units,” said Igor Klymenko.
In turn, US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Bridget Brink stressed that today's gesture by the official Washington regarding the transfer of technical assistance is evidence of Ukraine's steadfast support for the path to justice and punishment of the Russian Federation for war crimes:
“We provide this assistance so that your units can collect evidence as safely as possible and prove to the world the terrible crimes committed by the Russian army on the territory of Ukraine. My country appreciates your values and on behalf of the President of the United States, I reaffirm our comprehensive support.”
In general, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, the United States has provided assistance to the investigative units of the National Police for $17 million.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko together with the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Bridget Brink inspected all the transferred equipment. The Minister noted that its application will allow to qualitatively, and most importantly, quickly fix all crimes of Russia. For example, ANDE 6C human DNA profiling laboratories, which are already provided by all Main Departments of the National Police of Ukraine, allow you to establish a DNA profile in just over an hour and a half.
“Police officers have undergone appropriate training to train forensic specialists to work with such high-speed DNA profiling laboratories. We already have effective cases for the identification of persons killed as a result of Russian missile strikes on our cities. 3D scanners and unmanned aerial vehicles are also important for our work. They are used to inspect the sites of events and objects destroyed as a result of rocket attacks, artillery shelling and bombings,” Minister Klymenko said.
At the same time, the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Ivan Vyhivsky noted that the transferred technical assistance will be sent primarily to the frontline regions, which are daily under enemy fire.
“The National Police greatly appreciates all your help since the creation of our body, especially since the beginning of a full-scale war. The United States is our biggest partner. Together to victory,” Ivan Vyhivskyi said.
Separately, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine showed Bridget Brink the work of the Situation Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the collection of evidence base of crimes of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, as well as how the center's employees predict future threats.
“Today, Ukraine is fighting for justice. We liberate our lands and save our people. And we are extremely grateful that in this struggle for life, we are not alone. We have strong support from the U.S. government.
