During the inspection of the places of war crimes by the army of the Russian Federation, the investigating police record the damage caused by shelling, and the specialists of the explosives department of the GUNP find and destroy unexploded munitions.

Police officers made a trip to one of the villages in the Krasnopil region, which was recently shelled by the Russians. Then several private households were damaged, the premises of an agricultural enterprise where hay was stored were completely burned, and the explosions caused cracks in the fields.

Inspecting the damage, police explosives confirmed that the shelling was carried out from 82-caliber mortars, 152-caliber barrel artillery and RSZO “Grad”. This is evidenced by the ruptures in the field from such types of ammunition used by the Russian army and fragments of the shells themselves. Another 82-millimeter mine pierced the roof of the building, fell on the floor of an outbuilding and did not work.

“Such a shell is extremely dangerous. He passed through the channel of the barrel, for some reason he did not have an explosive from the impact, although it is very sensual. Such a mine weighing more than three kilograms is extremely dangerous because it can explode at any moment. It contains four hundred grams of explosive, which when detonated produces 400-600 fragments, which are guaranteed to destroy all living things within a radius of 60 meters from the explosion site. Therefore, we do not recommend such objects and any other ammunition not only to touch, but even to approach them closely,” says Igor Chernyak, senior inspector of the explosives department of the GUNP in Sumy region.

The explosive object was recovered and destroyed by detonation nearby. On the facts of shelling of a peaceful Ukrainian village, the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 438 (Violation of the laws and customs of war) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Police urge citizens to be very careful when detecting any suspicious items similar to ammunition. In no case do not approach a projectile, mine or missile that did not work. Mark the location of the find and report the dangerous object to the authorities, police or military.
