For the period of martial law, the military and law enforcement officers will have to hand over their DNA data - Igor Bondarenko
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Bondarenko today on the air of the All-Ukrainian Telemarathon. The innovation is associated with the adoption of the law on the state registration of human genomic information.
“Regarding mandatory registration, there is such a rule that DNA samples are taken from servicemen and law enforcement officers for the period of martial law. That is, among those representatives of professions, among whom we have the greatest losses due to the aggression of the Russian Federation,” said Igor Bondarenko.
He explained that the data of servicemen are not immediately entered into the DNA registry. They are stored in the personal files of the fighters and are taken only when there is a need to conduct an examination.
“Given the losses we have today, it is necessary to identify all of our victims as a result of armed aggression. This applies to both military and civilians who will come under fire, as, for example, in the city of Chasiv Yar,” the deputy minister said.
With the adoption of the law on state registration of human genomic information, there are two types of such registration, mandatory and voluntary. As for mandatory, as, for example, for the military and law enforcement officers - it is carried out at the expense of the state. And voluntary, which can be passed by all willing citizens of Ukraine and foreigners - is paid.
