The illegal extraction of sand worth more than half a billion hryvnias has been exposed in Kyiv region
An organized criminal group in Kyiv region was engaged in dealing with this building material. Investigators of the National Police have already reported the suspicion to its participants.
The equipment seized during the pre-trial investigation, which the defendants used for illegal activities, was transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During the pre-trial investigation, the investigators of the CSU of the National Police documented and stopped the activities of the organized crime group. It was established that intruders without any permits carried out sand extraction in Kyiv region. In order not to pay taxes, those involved sold illegally mined minerals for cash.
According to the conclusions of expert studies, the amount of damage caused to the state reaches 570 million UAH.
At the moment, investigators have reported the suspicion of the organizer and three members of the criminal group in committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 4 of Art. 240 (Violation of the rules of protection or use of subsoil, illegal extraction of minerals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 8 years.
