The Ministry of Internal Affairs conducts a clear and consistent policy to establish a system of control over the circulation of weapons, — Igor Bondarenko
In the live broadcast of the all-Ukrainian tele-marathon, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Bondarenko spoke about the changes to the second reading of the draft law on the legalization of weapons.
“On January 10 of this year, the Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs No. 2 was adopted, which approves the provisions on the Unified Register of Weapons. The introduction of this registry makes it possible to automate the life cycle of the weapon so that all events related to any unit are clearly recorded. This will make it possible to understand where a particular unit of weapons is located, what happens to it and who is responsible for it,” said the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
He also said that the issue of arms circulation is quite sensitive for society, especially given the state of war. Ukrainians have dramatically changed their views on the issue of circulation and possession of weapons, but the Ministry of Internal Affairs should conduct a balanced policy and take into account all risks.
“We need to create such a system that will prevent any abuse, and in case of committing illegal actions with weapons — immediately bring the owner to justice. This is the main issue that must now be resolved,” said Igor Bondarenko.
Separately, the deputy minister focused on the issue of control over mental health certificates.
“We are currently conducting a dialogue with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Digital Affairs to automate the exchange of information and refuse these paper certificates,” the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs summed up.
