Moshchon became an impassable barrier, an outpost of Kiev. The 72-strong separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhtsy and the guards of the Northern Operational and Territorial Union kept the defense in this direction. This video is a firsthand story of the National Guard defenders.

After the Ukrainian defenders thwarted the plans of the Russian Federation to carry out a mass landing of troops and equipment in Gostomel and detained them there, the bridges to Kiev were blown up. Then other units of the Kiev garrison began to occupy the positions of the defense line of the capital.

One of the main directions chosen by the occupiers to get to Kiev was the route through Pushcha-Voditsa. To do this, they had to go through the villages of Moshchun and Gorenko. Since the first enemy DRG that entered the territory of the villages were destroyed, the enemy chose the merciless tactics of the fire shaft. Having located the BC warehouse at the Gostomel glass factory, Russian troops began shelling the village and the forest with artillery. Repeatedly they used cassette and incendiary ammunition. Because of these shelling, the villages of Moshchun and Horenka are among the most destroyed in terms of percentage of destroyed buildings and burned forest.

At the same time, in Moshchon, enemy groups entered the forest with mortar attacks. There were constant shelling and fires. And the Ukrainian defenders not only did not leave their positions, but also were able to carry out maneuverable defense with the advance. Across the Irpin River near Moschon, the occupiers repeatedly tried to bring pontoon crossings. All of them were destroyed by Ukrainian artillery.
